En la segunda mitad de 2021 se reeditó The Perro Convention de la banda Plátano Macho (Little Butterfly Records). Un disco fundacional de la escena de hip hop montevideana originalmente publicado en 1998 por PolyGram. Celebrando este hecho proponemos desde [MoM] rec una suerte de contracara: un álbum digital de exploraciones musicales. Invitamos a un grupo de artistas a que tomen los temas en The Perro Convention como base para nuevas composiciones enfocadas en la percusión y textura sonora antes que la melodía o el flow vocal de un Mc. The Mosca Convention por Mátano Placho es la creación colectiva de un álbum cercano a la cultura contemporánea del beat tape, del beat juggling, del mashup y el plunderphonics.

The Perro Convention tiene en la portada un perro grande negro fumando y con los ojos rojos, una mosca, saturno en el cielo y una planta de marihuana. The Mosca Convention tiene un perro chico blanco, la cabeza del perro negro con alas de mosca, muchas moscas, plantas de marihuana enroscadas y una oleada de saturnos. Entre ambas portadas se dibujan procesos paralelos a los empleados en la creación de las pistas que componen este álbum celebratorio. Algo que el nombre Mátano Placho también refleja: una maniobra lúdica re combinatoria.

The Mosca Convention sucede en la post-vida del material original. Es a través de las mutaciones que podemos ver el potencial de tomar este mismo material como crudo. Las posibilidades se multiplican al abandonar el territorio de los géneros musicales para explorar sin marcar un destino final.

The second half of 2021 saw the re-release of The Perro Convention by the band Plátano Macho (Little Butterfly Records). A foundational album of the Montevideo hip hop scene originally released in 1998 by PolyGram. Celebrating this fact we propose from [MoM] rec a sort of counterpart: a digital album of musical explorations. We invite a group of artists to take the tracks in The Perro Convention as the basis for new compositions focused on percussion and sound texture rather than melody or the vocal flow of a Mc. The Mosca Convention by Mátano Placho is the collective creation of an album close to the contemporary culture of beat tape, beat juggling, mashup and plunderphonics.

The Perro Convention has on the cover a big black dog smoking and with red eyes, a fly, saturn in the sky and a marijuana plant. The Mosca Convention has a small white dog, the black dog's head with fly wings, many flies, curled up marijuana plants and a wave of saturns. Between the two covers are drawn parallel processes to those employed in the creation of the tracks that make up this celebratory album. Something that the name Mátano Placho also reflects: a playful re-combinatory maneuver.

The Mosca Convention happens in the afterlife of the original material. It is through mutations that we can see the potential of taking this same material as raw. The possibilities multiply as we leave the territory of musical genres to explore without marking a final destination.
